RE: Need a campground near Mount Shasta

We stayed at Dance Country RV Park on our way to Reno last year. I'm not a big fan of RV parks but at least this one had trees and grass instead of just being a parking lot.
If I were to head that way again I would try for Fowler campground near McCloud. We stopped in there to hike to the 3 waterfalls and it was very pretty. No hookups.

RE: Hi Everyone! What's Up?

Not this weekend. Last weekend we tried a different local campground about 30 miles away. It was a nice change from our usual spot. It had fewer spaces (13 vs. 39) and the host actually enforced quiet hours. We had the best spot in the campground for privacy but it also seemed to be the windiest spot. Figures!
Next weekend we are going to Valley of the Rogue in Oregon and for Labor Day we are spending 4 nights at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa, CA.

RE: Cheapest Blue Tote Waste Water Container

Bought my Barker 22 gallon from JC Whitney. I think I paid $75 a year ago and free shipping. Just checked their web site and it is currently $99 + free shipping. I watched E-bay for quite a while but never found a good deal and the shipping was always outrageous. I live in a remote area and we don't have a local Craigs list.

RE: Can we ease up on the horns and learn how to turn it off?

I use the remote to lock the doors during non-quiet hours and will manually lock the doors during quiet hours.
Last year when we were at Watchman campground in Zion 2 parties were beeping their car horns using their remotes back and forth to each other for about 15 minutes. Drove me nuts!!!

RE: The Rear of My Jayco 26L is Sagging!

Have you done a search for "bent frame" under the hybrid section? It sounds like there have been quite a few of the longer Jayco models with this problem. Choxnpinz's story is one that I particularly remember. It sounds like his was taken back to the factory to be repaired.

RE: HELP NEEDED

Do they have another trailer like yours on the lot that they could switch the gray tank out of?
What kind of leak do you have? Is it a crack in the side? I've read a post where someone repaired theirs with Eternabond and it held.

RE: Manufacturer builds VS Options

My complaint about options is that they don't list every option that you can order, nor does the dealer tell you about them (at least ours didn't). We ordered our hybrid 3 years ago and we thought we were getting every option available (everything that was listed on the back of the brochure). After reading this forum I found out we could upgrade the material on the tent ends and add diamond plating, so I called back and added that to our order. Now I wish I had added a shower surround and maybe a stainless steel sink instead of plastic. I'm sure there are other things we would have upgraded or added if we had been offered them.

RE: Please advise:Kodiak Expandable 23BH-tent ends

I would pick up the camper and use it for the summer and then take it back in the fall/winter to have the repair done. We continued to camp in our Coyote for 5 months when the tent ends were separating from the trailer. Also, when the roof on our popup leaked we took it in to have it repaired and when they said it would be a few months to get a new roof in we picked it back up and used it until the new roof came in.

RE: Late checkout

If I'm at an RV park with hookups I definitely check with the office if we are going to be past checkout time.
We camp a lot at a forest service campground w/o hookups about 25 miles away. Checkout time is 2:00 p.m. but if it's nice sometimes we stay until 6 or 7 p.m. We usually pay the extra $15 if we are going to be that late but the last time we were there the ranger said it wasn't necessary.
We actually paid for an extra night at a county park in Oregon and when the host saw us leaving a few hours after checkout time he came running up to us because he thought something was wrong and went through the trouble of giving us our money back.
At a California state park w/o hookups in the winter when it was real slow and there was no one in the park they gave us a hard time about leaving a couple hours late but didn't charge us.

RE: What's your cheapest campsite?

We stayed at Loeb, an Oregon State Park, for $10/night President's Day weekend. During peak season it is $16 for water and electric and October through April it is $12. The showers weren't working at the time so they dropped the price to $10. We got lucky that weekend and had our favorite riverfront site.

RE: Does anyone here not have a tub surround?

We don't have a tub surround. The walls in our shower are the same walls throughout the rest of the trailer. And yes we use our shower and no problems so far after 3+ years. I probably would have ordered a surround if I had known it was an option (dealer never asked and this was our first trailer).

RE: Anybody been to Standish-Hickey S.P.?

Just read the page again. Maybe they are just referring to the one loop. I looked into staying there this summer and that discouraged me. I'll be interested to hear what other people say. Beautiful area!

Reserve America's campground details for this park says no trailers of any kind, even a utiliy trailer to carry a family's camping gear.

RE: ROO 233 shower problem

I have a Coyote, so I'm not sure if my setup is the same, but I have to pull the thing up behind the sink faucet to get the shower to work. It's like the thing that you pull up at home to plug and unplug your drain (hope I'm making sense).

RE: bullard's beach

We stayed here one weekend a couple of years ago. I don't remember any of the spots really being better than the others except I would prefer the outside of the loop rather than the inside. We got stuck next to the bathroom path and hated that because everyone was walking 5 feet from our awning. Oregon State Parks have great campgrounds and the spots tend to have plenty of space and good privacy between them with bushes and trees. You probably can't go wrong. I think we were in the A loop. I think the in-laws had A48, 50 or 51 and it was nice.

RE: Hikes for Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands & Arches

We did this trip last year at about the same time you are going (Memorial Day weekend was in the middle of our 2 weeks). I bought the Lonely Planet travel guide for Zion and Bryce Canyon (but it actually covers all of the Utah National Parks) and found it to be full of good information.
We spent 5 nights at Dead Horse Point State Park near Moab and spent 2 days at Arches and hiked all of the trails and took the Fiery Furnace guided tour. I believe the tour is about 3 hours. The 3-mile hike to Delicate Arch is a good one, as well as the Devil's Garden loop that takes you to 8 different arches. The Devil's Garden hike is something like 7-8 miles (we came back the primitive loop to avoid the crowds). There are also several other short trails including Park Ave (1 mile one way), Balanced Rock (.3 mile), Windows Trail (0.6 mile) and Sand Dune & Broken Arches (2.4 miles).
We spent one day at Canyonlands Island in the Sky and did the Aztec Butte Trail (2 miles), Mesa Arch (0.5 mile), Grand View Point Trail (2 miles), Upheaval Dome (1.8 miles) and White Rim Overlook (1 mile). I think we enjoyed Aztec Butte the most because it was one of the only times that we were alone on a trail! There are some structures built by Pueblo Indians to store their grains on the butte. It took us a few minutes to find them as they are not marked by signs or anything.
We spent 5 days hiking at Zion and did the Watchman Trail (2.7 miles), Hidden Canyon (2 miles), Emerald Pools (2.5 miles), Angels Landing (5 miles), Observation Point (8 miles) and The Narrows (10 miles if you go as far as you can from the bottom starting at the Temple of Sinawava). We also rode the Pa'rus trail on our bikes and took our bikes on the shuttle to the top of the canyon and rode down. I would say my favorites were The Narrows, Angels Landing, Observation Point and Hidden Canyon. We rented the specials boots and a walking stick to do The Narrows. Not sure if it was absolutely necessary but we figured it might be our one chance to do the hike and we wanted to be sure we would be comfortable enough to do the whole distance. The water level was low when we were there at the end of May/early June and there was only one spot that I got my shorts wet and I'm only 5' 1". We hiked Observation point at 8 a.m. and only saw 4 other people on the way up to the top, so that was a nice break from the crowds too. I was surprised how many people we saw on our way down the trail considering it is an 8-mile hike with a 2000-feet elevation gain. You go through a really neat canyon called Echo Canyon and end up across from and above Angels Landing.
We drove to Bryce Canyon from Zion and just did a day trip. We managed to stop at every viewpoint and hiked the Navajo Loop-Queen's Garden Combination (2.8 miles), Peekaboo Loop (another 3.5 miles off the Navajo Loop) and the Bristlecone Loop trail. We were pretty exhausted at the end of the day (not sure if it was the elevation).
If you like to hike, this is a dream vacation!

RE: 12v plug is different size in KZ Spree

I don't think it is just KZ. There was a post about a month ago where someone else brought this up and quite a few people responded stating that they had the same problem. Someone managed to get a 12-volt extension cord plugged in with some force and then they just left it in and then plugged and unplugged their 12-volt accessories from the extension cord. We tried to plug our converter in so we could play our TV at night without running our generator but it wouldn't fit, however the converter worked fine in our truck. We also tried our converter in my in-laws Forest River and it wouldn't fit. We are going to have a separate 12-volt plug added to our trailer this year. The 12-volt plug in our pop-up worked great.
